Frequently Asked Questions
-
Sustainable pet waste disposal means managing dog waste in a way that reduces plastic use, landfill load, and environmental pollution. It covers more than just pickup and includes how waste is contained, disposed of, and what effect it has on soil, water, and air quality around your home.
-
Dog owners need eco-friendly waste solutions because conventional methods, including plastic bags, outdoor bins, and missed pickups, create ongoing landfill waste, odor, and hygiene problems. A practical, eco-friendly system reduces that daily impact without adding extra effort to the cleanup routine.
-
Dog waste left outdoors can contaminate soil and water. Rainwater carries bacteria and pathogens from pet waste into drains and local waterways, affecting public parks, sidewalks, and water supplies. Prompt and proper disposal protects your yard, your neighbors, and the wider environment.
-
Dog waste is not a fertilizer but a pollutant. Unlike cow or horse manure, dog waste comes from a high-protein diet and contains bacteria, parasites, and pathogens that damage grass, attract flies, and can contaminate soil. Leaving it on the lawn does not improve growth; it creates a hygiene hazard.
-
Daily plastic bag use creates significant plastic waste over time. A household with one dog can use 300–500 bags per year, most of which end up in landfill. Each sealed bag also traps the waste, slowing any natural breakdown. Reducing bag dependence with a dedicated disposal system is better for both the home and the environment.
-
A sustainable pet waste system should reduce plastic bag use, control odor, make daily cleanup quick, and keep waste out of outdoor bins and landfills. Ease of use matters because a system that feels like extra work gets skipped. Look for something that fits your yard size, the number of dogs you have, and your existing routine.
-
Yes. A consistent, eco-friendly waste disposal routine keeps pathogens, flies, and odor out of your yard. This makes outdoor spaces safer for children, pets, and guests. Regular removal rather than leaving waste on the grass is the single most effective step toward better backyard hygiene.

Eco-friendly Pet Waste Disposal FAQs
WasteAway Pet Waste Disposal System FAQS
-
WasteAway is a pet waste disposal system that routes dog waste out of your yard through the sewer system, eliminating the need to bag and bin it. It is designed for daily use and installs in most standard yards. It is a cleaner alternative for households dealing with bin odor, plastic bag waste, or high waste volume from large or multiple dogs.
-
WasteAway reduces plastic bag use by giving owners a direct disposal route that does not rely on single-use bags. It encourages daily cleanup, removing waste before odor builds, and keeps it out of household bins and landfills. For eco-conscious homes, it replaces a plastic-heavy habit with a cleaner, repeatable system.
-
Yes. Throwing bagged dog waste in the trash creates bin odour, attracts pests, adds to landfill, and requires constant plastic bag use. WasteAway removes waste through the sewer system instead, which is cleaner, less smelly, and eliminates the need for daily bagging.
-
Yes. Backyard odour comes from waste left on grass or stored in outdoor bins. WasteAway removes waste directly at disposal rather than holding it in a container, which cuts odour at the source. Regular use keeps patios, lawns, and play areas noticeably fresher.
-
Yes — WasteAway is especially useful in multi-dog homes. More dogs mean more waste, faster odour, and higher bag consumption. A dedicated disposal system handles higher volume without scaling up bin use or plastic bags, keeping the yard manageable regardless of how many dogs you have.
-
Yes. Children play directly on grass and patios where dog waste is a real hygiene risk. WasteAway supports a consistent daily disposal routine that keeps shared outdoor spaces clean and safe. Parents who use it regularly report fewer hygiene concerns when kids and dogs use the same yard.
-
Yes. WasteAway changes the disposal method so waste goes into the sewer system rather than a plastic bag in the bin. This significantly cuts daily bag use, reduces bin odour, and simplifies the cleanup routine. The more consistently it is used, the greater the reduction in plastic bag consumption.
-
Yes. WasteAway offers flexible installation options — backyard, side-yard, patio-adjacent, or near existing outdoor plumbing — making it well-suited to small yards, townhomes, and patio homes. In tight spaces where odor and mess spread quickly, having a fixed disposal point close to where the dog goes makes the routine faster and cleaner.
-
Yes. Large breeds produce significantly more waste per day, which accelerates odour buildup and makes bin disposal unpleasant — especially in warm weather. WasteAway handles higher waste volumes and removes them directly rather than storing them, making it a better fit for Labradors, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and similar breeds.
-
WasteAway is best suited for dog owners frustrated with bin odor, high plastic bag use, or inconsistent cleanup routines. It is particularly useful for families with children, homes with multiple or large dogs, small yards where odour concentrates, and anyone looking to reduce their household plastic waste.
Eco-friendly Dog Poop Bags FAQs
-
Our poop bags are made from Poly-Vinyl Alcohol This is the same product that you use in your dishwasher soap pod, it dissolves in water by temperature. This technology has been around for years with many products. Our 2-layer bag is made with a lower bag temp on the outer bag and a higher temp that is much smaller to incapsulate the pet waste. When you flush the bag the outside layer melts very quickly so that it does not hold air so that it does not float to not let it flush properly. Regular bags can take up to 500 years to decompose whereas ours start melting immediately.
-
Biodegradable Dog Poop Bags Are buried the first day in the landfill. They require heat and oxygen to decompose. They are part of the pile. The other issue is that waste in the landfill creates methane forever. When you put your pet waste into the sewer system where it belongs it is treated and reintroduced back into the environment as nitrogen
-
This process is not advisable. You need high heat to kill bacteria and pathogens. Without additional heat do not compost pet waste especially cat waste.
-
Biodegradable products break down through exposure to bacteria and sunlight. Whereas compostable products need a composting system to manage their breakdown process.
-
Measurements: Designed for standard dispensers Our heavy-duty bags are strong enough to pick up waste from pets weighing up to 150 pounds.
-
Biodegradable dog poop bags can leach out toxins in landfills and waterways. They can also contain toxic chemicals like polypropylene and fragrances. Along with the waste it’s self-creating methane!
-
FLUSHING BIO POOP BAGS WILL CLOG your pipes! Bio poop bags should be thrown in the trash, NOT flushed down the toilet.
-
It takes 3-6 months to completely break down when exposed to oxygen and water. neither of these are not available once buried in the landfill.
-
In order for your dog’s poop bags to compost correctly you should place them into a compostable bag within 24 hours after your dog relieves himself outside.
-
Biodegradable poop bags can hold waste just as well as traditional plastic bags. Once you bury your dog’s poop bag in the yard biodegradable bags will start decomposing.
-
The bags measure 9” x 13”. They fit all standard style dispensers.

How PetHabitats Approaches Cleaner Pet Waste Management
-
PetHabitats focuses on turning pet waste cleanup into a cleaner home system, not another messy chore. Many products only help owners pick up waste. PetHabitats looks at the full routine, from yard hygiene to odor control and disposal. That approach helps dog owners build cleaner habits without making daily life harder.
-
PetHabitats looks at the moment most dog owners dislike: standing outside with a bag, rain in the grass, odor near the bin, and no clean place to put the waste. That is the problem the brand solves. Its philosophy starts with real homes, not perfect routines. Dog waste cleanup should happen fast, stay contained, and stop following owners back to the trash bin, garage, or patio.
-
PetHabitats supports cleaner backyard living by making pet waste cleanup easier to repeat, not easier to ignore. Most dog owners know the problem starts small: one missed pickup near the patio, one warm afternoon, then the yard starts feeling less usable. A better routine changes that. With a clear disposal point and faster cleanup flow, families spend less time chasing odor, moving around mess, or rushing before guests arrive. The backyard starts feeling like part of the home again, not a space managed around dog waste.
-
Pet waste cleanup feels stressful when the routine depends on bags, outdoor bins, and “I’ll do it later” moments. One missed day turns into odor near the patio, flies around the yard, and a cleanup job nobody wants. PetHabitats approaches that frustration with systems built around the way dog owners actually live. Instead of sending every mess to a smelly trash bin, it helps create a fixed cleanup point near the home. That makes the routine faster, cleaner, and easier to repeat before the yard becomes a problem.
-
PetHabitats treats sustainability as something homeowners should live with daily. If a solution feels hard, people stop using it. So, convenience matters. Our philosophy connects cleaner disposal, fewer messy habits, and easier routines. This makes eco-conscious pet waste management feel realistic for normal households.
-
PetHabitats focuses on systems because dog waste cleanup happens every day. Quick fixes may solve one mess, but they do not improve the routine. A system helps owners stay consistent. It also supports better odor control, fewer cleanup delays, and a cleaner outdoor environment over time.
-
PetHabitats encourages dog owners to treat cleanup as part of yard care, not a task to handle later. When pet waste stays on the lawn, odor reaches patios, flies gather near doors, and rain pushes residue toward side yards or drainage areas. That affects the whole home, not only one patch of grass. A cleaner disposal system gives owners a set place to remove waste right away, so the yard stays easier to use for kids, dogs, guests, and nearby neighbors.
-
Backyard hygiene affects how families feel at home. A yard with lingering waste, flies, and odor does not feel relaxing. PetHabitats focuses on hygiene because dog ownership should not shrink outdoor living space. Cleaner waste routines help families enjoy the yard without constant cleanup anxiety.
-
PetHabitats makes pet waste management more homeowner-friendly by fitting the solution into the home environment. The goal is not to add clutter or complicate the yard. Instead, the system should support daily cleanup, reduce odor concerns, and make disposal feel more natural within the home’s routine.
-
The core idea behind PetHabitats pet waste solutions is simple: dog waste cleanup should feel cleaner, smarter, and easier to maintain. Pet owners already handle enough daily tasks. PetHabitats helps turn a disliked chore into a steady home routine that supports cleaner yards and more responsible pet care.
